Actor Aaron Eckhart, who is currently one of the stars of Battle: Los Angeles , is in Montreal since Monday for the filming of The Expatriate.

“He’s trying on costumes,” says Jonathan Vanger, one of the producers of the film with Claude Leger.

The filming of The Expatriate should start Sunday. “We shoot in several places: at CIBC, Ville-Marie … We have four weeks of shooting in Montreal, “says Vang.

The production will then move to Brussels, Belgium, where three weeks of shooting are planned.

Aaron Eckhart, 43, has been associated with the project over the past six months.

“It’s good for the role, and it is climbing. We wanted someone who had a certain presence, a good actor, and there are not many actors who have it all and are climbing,” says Jonathan Vanger.

Since the early 2000s, Aaron Eckhart has had multple roles on the big screen. He has played in Erin Brockovich, alone against all, The Black Dahlia , and The Dark Knight , the chapter of the adventures of Batman movies released in 2008.

These days, he is one of the stars of the film Battle: Los Angeles , where he played the role of Sergeant Michael Nantz.

“We had to negotiate to find a deal that makes sense, “says Jonathan Vanger about the actor’s contract.

THE STORY OF A CIA AGENT
Filming starts in less than a week, but the young actress who co-star of the film is still not under contract.

“We have not finalized yet, but hopefully get there in the next 24 hours,” says Mr. Vanger about “a young actress” whose name he prefers silence for now.

The Expatriate , directed by Philipp Stölzl, tells the story of an ex-CIA agent who tries to find her daughter after the death of his wife. Once reunited, they decided to go live in Europe, Brussels.

“He takes a contract for a surveillance company,” says Vanger. “But he realizes he is being manipulated by the CIA, which uses that company. He and his daughter then take flight and seen his daughter in a different way. ”

IN BRUSSELS
The film’s action takes place entirely in Brussels. On the screen, moviegoers will not recognize Montreal.

“The action could take place in Montreal, but we wanted a European context. It’s less sexy ex-CIA agent who leaves the United States for Canada, a former officer who left for Brussels, “says the producer.

The film’s budget The Expatriate is $ 16 million.

Jonathan Vanger and Claude Leger working both in Transfilm, the company is currently working on Upside Down, a production of 60 million, also filmed in Montreal, which will feature Kirsten Dunst (Spider-Man) and Jim Sturgess ( The Other Boleyn Girl ).
